Biography

Jeanne (De Latour) Saint-Étienne de La Tour was a Canadian First Peoples and member of the Mi'kmaq Nation.
Jeanne (De Latour) Saint-Étienne de La Tour was born in 1625 in Cap-De-Sable, Acadie, Nouvelle-France, daughter of Gouverneur Charles (De Latour) Saint-Étienne de La Tour (abt. 1593–abt. 1664) and Unknown Mi'kmaq (abt. 1605–bef. 1639)(their union blessed in 1626, though her name has been lost).[1][2][3]
In 1632, Charles de La Tour brought his three daughters to France.[4]
Jeanne (29) married Martin (Martignon) D'Aprendestiguy (38) (born about 1616 in Ascain, Guyenne, France) in 1655 in Pentagouët, Acadie (present day Castine, Maine).[2] Their known children were:[2]

  3. Antoinette b 14 March 1660 La Rochelle, France
  4. Marie Anne (De Martignon) d' Aprendestiguy (abt. 1662–aft. 1690)
  5. Marie b 28 October 1665 La Rochelle, France
They had five children and she is the ancestor of the Bourgeois and many other well known Acadian families[5]
In 1686, at Riviere St John, Jeanne LATOUR [sic], aged 60, was living with her husband, Martin D'APRENDESTIQUE [sic] dit Martignon, aged 70, and their daughter, Marianne [sic], aged 24. No land or livestock were listed.[6]
Jeanne died after 1686 in Acadie, Nouvelle-France, aged about 61.

    His first daughter was Jeanne de La Tour, born in 1626. She married in what is now Castine, Maine, a rich merchant by the name of Martin d'Aprendestiguy, from the Basque country, southwest of France. She had five children. She is the ancestor of a number of Acadians, of all the Bourgeois' and of many Boudreaus, Dugas', LeBlanc, etc.
